Getting Started with Web Forms
Collecting information from your web site visitors is an effective way to increase the size of your database with valuable email recipient data. Whenever a web form is filled out buy a web site visitor the information entered into the web form is added to the Relevant Tools database when the visitor submits the web form.
In this tutorial is a short preview that shows you how to create a web form for your website using Relevant Tools.
To begin the process of creating a web form, click on "FORMS", at the top of the screen. The Create a New Form⁄Edit and Existing Form screen, shown below, will be displayed. Next, enter a name for the form in the Form Name text box and click on the "CREATE FORM" button. We will us the name signup, as the Form name, for this tutorial.
Next, if you have more than one database defined in your Relevant Tools account, you will be prompted, by the screen below, to select the database you would like to use with your new form.
On the other hand, if you have signed up recently with Relevant Tools you will only have the contact database you can use to get yous tarted; so the screen above will be not be displayed. The Contact database is the database we will reference in this tutorial.
Once the database for the form has been established, the screen below, the Setup Form screen, will be displayed. Using the pull-down menus select each of the fields you would like to use in the form.
Note: The fields displayed in the pull-down menus are the fields from the database selected above.
Next, if a field is a required field be sure to click on the radio button, in the Required column next to the field name.
Note: Setting up a CAPTCHA for the form is as simple as placing a check in the CAPTCHA Image checkbox. Using a CAPTCHA on your form is a great way to protect yourself from fictitious web form submissions. Once the fields for the form have been selected, the confirmation email message people receive after completing the web form, should be selected from the pull-down menu, shown below. Regarding the type of confirmation email message that is sent, you can use a personalized message, which uses the data from the web form to deliver a custom message, send a message with attachments, send a formatted HTML message or a plain text message. There is also a default Relevant tools confirmation message you can use, if you choose.

Additionally, in the lower portion of the screen below, you can specify if you would like to receive an administrative email notification with the web form data each time someone submits the form. The data from the form will be automatically be stored in your Relevant Tools database so you can take further action on it depending on your requirements.
Next, you can, with a VIP membership, create custom response error web pages and/or thank you web page on your web site for your form and, if you have done so, enter the complete URL of the web page in the text boxes below, respectively.

After you have selected the fields for the form and set up the email parameters, click on the "UPDATE FORM" button, at the bottom of the screen. The Test form screen, shown below, should now be displayed. To test the form enter the data into the form and click the submit button; you should receive a test message from Relevant Tools. Be sure to check the data is being stored in the Relevant Tools database and if you have created a custom confirmation message be sure it looks the way you want it to look.
When you are satisfied with your form the last step is to install the form on your website. Relevant Tools generates the form code so you don't need to be technical to create a working form and if you do know a little HTML coding you can update the form web page to change the formating of the form and present the desired look.
